Welcome to Kosho Shorei Medicine and Thank you for visiting my website! To date I have completed over 2000 hours of classroom time, hands on practice, and clinical patient observations with my teacher, David LoPriore Sensei, L.Ac., and Shiatsu Practitioner. David LoPriore Sensei has been practicing Asian Medicine for over 30 years and he is the Director of Acupuncture, Shiatsu and Oriental Medicine of New England in East Lyme CT. Part of his training in Asian Medicine consists of a 2000 hour private apprenticeship with Dr Yu Chin Jiao, L.Ac., who is a highly accomplished surgeon and Acupuncturist from China.
LoPriore Sensei is also the 23rd Generation Headmaster of an 800 year old art called Kosho Shorei Ryu. This art was brought here from Japan in 1936 by the Honorable James Masayashi Mitose Sensei. He carries on the lineage through his practice and teachings in his clinic and dojo.
My interest in the medicine started out while I was a newer patient of LoPriore Sensei. I was suffering from anxiety as well as minor physical symptoms which I passed off as a part of aging. With his expertise as an Acupuncturist and Shiatsu Therapist, I became a much healthier person physically and emotionally with his treatments and through his education of the points he was using on me in my treatments. Knowing how much I was benefiting from the medicine and becoming healthier, my interest peaked. I wanted to learn the medicine so I could do the same for others, heal in the same way as he has been healing me and many other patients in his clinic.
After completing the Level I course in September 2013 and passing the exam with flying colors, I started practicing and helping others to be healthier and happier by giving treatments to my own patients. My education continued upon passing the Level I exam where I continue to learn more advanced techniques, observe patients, and conferring with Sensei regularly.
Other experiences include past President and Vice president of Warriors for Warriors (WFW), a 501 (c) (3) non profit organization. WFW sponsors free Community for Acupuncture (CAV) for Veterans bi monthly, free mindfulness and wellness trainings for veterans as well as free meditation and martial arts classes. I was the lead treatment assistant for CAV under LoPriore Sensei while he was performing acupuncture for veterans, many of whom suffer from PTS, anxiety, depression, hyper vigilance and insomnia as well as many physical ailments. We had sponsored over 1300 free treatments by the end of 2017.
Aside from training in the clinic, I am a student of LoPriore Sensei on the mat, training in Kosho Shorei Ryu Kempo, where I have earned the rank of Nidan, second degree black belt. I also train with him under his teacher, Roy Goldberg Sensei, in Daito Ryu Aiki Jujitsu, earning my Shodan, first degree black belt.
